I will say that I thought of this too late, but I really should have included Glen in my influence map.. I may replace someone on there actually...Including Freddy Moore kind of solidifies all of the people that came after him at Disney, but Glen definitely deserves high praise as one of the key artists that has influenced me.

Let's just say that everything you know as THE Quintessential Disney Style from the 80's until now (including Rapunzel) is Glen. The one that got me though, was definitely Tarzan. He also includes the Disney Family Album videos in his blog (which I absolutely LOVE) Enjoy!

Comic Con to Comic Con

So the San Diego Comic Con is now over but the projects continue my friends...Creative Impulse Ent. had a fantastic Con this year with the release of our newest Comic IP in collaboration with Paula Garces (Harold and Kumar, The Shield, Warehouse 13, etc.), "Aluna." My personal involvement in the project is lead and lone colorist (not an easy task by any means, but very cool). The second book will debut at the New York Comic Con, October 8th-10th (on which we are currently working). Paula will be there signing books, taking pictures, and having a blast, as usual. Aluna is also a full motion comic, where Paula has provided the voice over talent for the Aluna character along with other celebrity voice over talents, including but not limited to, Ahmed Best (Star Wars Ep.1,2, and 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance II) and Malik Yoba (New York Undercover, Cool Runnings). It's been really great working with our entire team on this project and I can't wait to see where this IP takes us in the near future.
In other news:
I'm also working on a lot of commission pieces, multiple comic covers, and a few film projects (keeping the wheels lubed) both conceptually (aka drawing and designing), but also acting. I honestly feel that when I am not working on some sort of project at any given time..I'm wasting time.

Death of an Icon

So I know everyone else has written blog entries about MJ...and I wasn't going to, but then I figured..This is MY blog..I can write whatever the hell I want!

At any rate, I'm not the preachy type, and I know people get turned off by the preachy types because I do. I won't say what people should and shouldn't have done for/to Michael Jackson in order for him to have lived a more rewarding life on a personal level, but I will say this...
For every person who says that they are not affected by this in some way, you have to be ignorant or stubborn...which is fine, I'm just pointing it out to you (and I'm not talking about crying your eyes out and balling up on the floor in the fetal position..simply affected is all)..and if you take offense to this, you are exactly of whom I speak. No one should have to say what an incredible human being MJ was because guess what, everyone on the planet knows the name.

From the hardest gangsta in the hood, to the most feeble of children...we've all been affected by this man. Trust me, I'm the first to crack wise about almost any topic, but if you're making jokes this soon for the sake of slandering the name..what's that all about?

I used to say this about super prominent figures in the world: "People like Michael Jackson, James Brown, Elvis Presley, etc, should have checked out in their prime in order to maintain their good names", and of course no, I wouldn't in actuality want them gone by any means, but it seems that for people who entertained the world to such a ridiculously phenomenal extent, they just got slammed later on in life...

...at any given point in time I think we, as people, need to feel that there is someone amongst us that is just beyond us personally... as a form of mental security, in a way, that there is someone out there thinking beyond the norm for the greater good...
to me, that person is gone now...

Dakstalkers Tribute - Udon Crew

Been quite a while since I posted anything... too much stuff to remember (I'm pretty bad about blogging).
Anyway, this is kind of old news now but the most recent thing that's happened, therefore here ya go!

So this was my submission for the Darkstalkers Tribute Book, but I didn't make it in unfortunately

I still want to congratulate all of the winners and can't wait to see the book! Thanks to the Udon Crew regardless for doing this. Looking forward to more in the future. I'll be at Comic Con this summer anyway with my own books and to pick up this one. So see you guys this summer!

Carmine's Flash

Just finished this, and although I don't feel 100% about the end result, I'm still glad I did it (it's still a learning process).

I am dedicating this piece "Officially" to one of my favorite teachers and the creator of the Flash we all know and love (Silver Age Flash), CARMINE INFANTINO! [link]

Carmine was a teacher of mine while I attended The School of Visual Arts in New York, NY. I absolutely love his very straight forward attitude about comics and how to put one together the right way. I will always be grateful for his words and wisdom.
He is the teacher that told me I had "it" and that I should continue doing comics. It, being that artist's eye for putting things together well, he tells me.

I've been wanting to do a piece for him since I left school and didn't feel my skills were up to par enough at the time to do a respectable piece for him. So with progression over the years comes this. Hope he likes it...oh and you guys too

Carlos Meglia

Sad news continues to plague the entertainment community, but in terms of hitting closer to home a great loss has been endured with the passing of one of my favorite artists Carlos Meglia. His work was a great influence on me in the way of style and presentation. Lots of life in the work, and it's hard to lose someone who has affected you to the point where it's just a part of your everyday life now...I think it's a little ironic that I just finished a Superman piece being that the first work I saw of his was the Superman/Tarzan crossover, which almost obviously had an affect on my work... You will be missed Carlos...RIP maestro...
